A game of bull-headed bluffs

A fresh spin on the beloved take-that classic! 6 nimmt! Baron Oxx adds the wild Baron Oxx card that players on any color row, but can blow up if you midjudge it.

Five rows of cards sit in the middle of the table. You all choose a card in secret, reveal together, and then place them in order from lowest number to highest, matching the colors of the bullheads at the end of each row. Put down the sixth card in a row, or push a row past six bullheads of one color, and you take the row. Bullheads are negative points... and nobody wants bullheads.

A worthy variant of 6 Nimmt!

Baron Ox feels a lot like 6 Nimmt! with less chaos and more chances for meanness (rather than schadenfreude). Its few rules make it ideal for large group situations. If you like 6 Nimmt!, you will probably like this too.

Teaching an Old Bull New Tricks

Baron Oxx feels like it fills a lot of niches, all while ultimately improving on the initial 6 nimmt! design. It's snappier, provides interesting decisions sooner, is an overall funnier game, and provides the flexibility to suit the needs of various tables. It's by no means going to reinvent the genre, and I can see folks who are happy with 6 nimmt! getting by just fine, but I personally don't see myself returning to the original if this edition is an option. It's never going to be a title I'm incredibly excited to play, but it's easy to teach and play, especially if you're tight on time or playing with some relatively new gamers or family members.
