When the time is right, gain control!

At the head of the city’s largest criminal organizations, men and women fight to control territories and gain support by trying every means possible to grow their influence. Control of the District Noir, a central and highly contested area, remains the major issue that will make all the difference in dominating the city.

There are two paths to victory: win over District Noir’s various supports, or directly control the city’s three strategic locations. Before players can claim these, they must be played to the center of the table. Strategically time when you play your cards, because once a round you’ll take the first 5 in the line. At the end of the game earn points for having the majority of each supporter and collecting sets of them. That is - if one player doesn’t immediately win by claiming the three locations!

Very subtle two player game

This is a great bluffing game that has just a few simple rules. You just square off against your opponent while trying to grab cards at the right time. Don’t overlook this game. Beautiful art as well.

Super fun game

This is a great two player card game. We were looking for a new game to add to our collection to play on our own and this was perfect. It is engaging and quick, the perfect blend of strategy with two ways to win. I really enjoy this game.

quite good 10 minute game for 2 players

Fine micro-card game with elements of Hanamikoji and Tussie Mussie but with a 1950's Hoboken, New Jersey crime theme. Lovely! To my mind, this game is better than either of the aforementioned games but just as fast. It's a card game with elements of hand drafting and set collection. I think that this is now our fastest game, much quicker playing than most micro-games, about 10 minutes to play. Every great small game has one or two really clever scoring bits and this is no exception. There's an opportunity for instant win, and three different scoring opportunities to weigh with every play.Only negative: The box is a bit bigger than necessary.

Great 2-player small-box card game with depth belying its simplicity

We're just starting to really get the feel for how the push and pull works in this game, and I'm having a great time with it.I'm impressed by how tense it can be, for a game with only a few types of cards, and only two extremely simple actions you can take on your turn. The considerations surrounding the need to put out cards that you hope will benefit you but not your opponent, and the timing of when to snag the last five, all under the constant pressure of THEM being able to snag the last five at any moment... it's really juicy. The scoring has just enough elements (including an instant-win condition to spice things up) to contribute to the turn-by-turn decisions being consistently interesting. And the art of course, while understated, really fits the theme -- which, granted, could be pretty much any theme with these mechanics, but I very much like the vibe it gives the game.So far this is high up there in my favorite 2-player competitive card games (and that's a genre I'm fond of, in which I own many more elaborate and complicated ones than this).

A fun card game with 1940’s noir theme

My wife and I like to play games together a couple of nights a week. This game appealed to us because of the 1940’s film noir feel that it had. We both love that time period and thought we would give it a go. The art on the cards is very good and kind of drew us in. Mobsters and mauls and boxers and thugs and toughs adorn each card. The game itself is for two players and your objective is to either garner enough cards to earn points for the win, or try to take the city by capturing three cards that have a city theme on them. You also put three cards aside that don’t come into play at all which really adds to the mystery of the game. It takes a lot of strategy and thinking to figure how to place your cards in such a way that you can gather the points together or the three city cards for the win. Pandasaurus seems to be putting out some really fun quick games like this. We both really thought it was fun and felt like we had made a good purchase.

Easy To Learn -2 Player Game

This is an easy to learn, two player strategy card game with a noir feel. My husband and I have enjoyed playing.

We enjoy it

This is a card game for only two players, which is kind of a bummer, as we usually like to play with at least three of us. Having said that, we really enjoy it. It's much more intense than you would believe a card game could be, lol. The tension that the gameplay puts upon you makes it a pretty exciting strategy game.

Simple learning, complex strategy

This is a great game for two players, wish there was a way to add more but just happens to not be. This is a turn based game where you either play or pickup cards, and your opponent does the same. Each round you put down 5 cards and pickup 5 cards for your keep. The strategy comes in that when you decide to pickup you must select the last 5 cards played. So do you play the good cards now, hoping to get them on your next turn if your opponent doesn't take them first, or do you play negative cards trying to force them to your opponent? The strategy is complex but the play is simple and my 12 year old son got really into it after just a single game.

How to play District Noir

A smart back-and-forth game that will have you playing multiple games in rapid succession as you try to outmanoeuvre your opponent.

The look, the theme, production value... I think this is handled extremely well.

It plays so quickly, it's so accessible, it's so easy to dive into.

I really don't have anything negative to say about this game. It's staying in my gaming library.
