The Wolves
The Wolves
Lead your pack to dominance!
The Wolves is a pack-building strategy game for 2-5 players. It’s survival of the fittest as you compete to build the largest, most dominant pack by claiming territory, recruiting lone wolves, and hunting prey. But be careful not to expand too recklessly into terrain where your rivals thrive– they may lure members of your pack away!
A clever action-selection mechanism drives your choices. Each action requires you to flip terrain tiles matching the terrain where you wish to take your action. These double-sided tiles mean the actions you take this round will set up which terrain types you can act on in the next round. As you take actions to expand your pack’s control of each region, you will also upgrade your pack’s attributes, allowing you to take more aggressive actions as the game goes on.

A territory control game in excellent design, execution and setting. A unique game about the life of wolves. If you play with a teenager, you can discuss the nature of wolves and the features of the promise. Otherwise, the game is balanced, perfectly executed and very exciting
Pretty entertaining game with interesting and fun mechanics. The instructions made it seem more daunting than it actually was once gameplay actually started.
Gioco divertente, coloratissimo e di grande impatto estetico, unica pecca è la mancanza di più bustine per dividere con comodità i pezzi una volta defustellati. Per il resto tutto perfetto.
Really happy with this game, great rules, great theme, great quality!
Prima
Really easy to get decision paralysis as there are tons of options for every turn. Strategy may not be as deep as developers suggest, but still a fun game. Recommend 3-5p, but 2p games are still viable.
I really like the look and feel of this game. Lots of different meeples and good quality boards. I have to admit that's what sucked me in, in the first place!I watched a "how to play" video and was pretty confused. However, it made a lot more sense after reading the manual. The instructions are well done with lots of pictures and examples. By the end of playing there were only one or two situations that we were unsure of, and we just guessed a rule and stuck with it.We played with two adults, one 9yo and a 6yo (who bailed ship pretty early). We all play Magic the Gathering, so we called the terrain cards our land/mana. There was a little intimidation that the rules might be complicated, but by the middle of our game everyone was enjoying it and getting the swing of our turn abilities. When we were done they were requesting to play again soon!
An interesting, puzzly process of flipping tiles and converting those sets into actions on your player board to capture points and control areas, though it's all fairly abstract in practice compared to the wolf theme/title. A lot of gamers, who may not necessarily be in love with the theme, will still likely appreciate the abstract gaming that is fun and accessible.
Great game.

What the press is saying
I like the area majority as a mechanism when it's done well. There's a natural migration to the board.
This is a very accessible game, and not only mechanically.
I love how fluid it feels; your wolves are always on the move, encircling prey, building dens, then moving on.
Although I’ve been told that this game was built from ground up to be played at 3-5p, 2p mode does not feel like an afterthought.
The production quality is top notch, the game comes with plenty of custom animeeples and uses pleasant colors that make it has a great table presentation.
